This Old House

While the producers of This Old House nodded in approval at the gem we found, Sarah Jessica Parker shook her head in disgust at the size of my closet.
Small closet

While Donny Palko assessed the lack of screens on our screened in porch, Dale Redpath gave me an estimate to paint over the words, 'Life is Absolutely Delicious' on our wall. While Deb and the Big Girls in the Small Kitchen encouraged me with their culinary masterpieces prepared in a kitchen more petite than mine, the Monster Truck lamented that it would never, ever fit in a garage that small.

Itty bitty garage

And while the lush grass got a trim last night from its latest barber, I continued to unpack box after box, until I hit a stopping point - the miscellaneous box that I don't know what to do with. I put it aside. My stomach growled. I looked around at the chaos that is slowly, but surely being tamed. I poured the anxiety that comes with moving a drink. And around 7:30, started making dinner.
Big back yard - the Weber has already been exercised

A couple weeks ago, I tweeted that the chicken divan recipe I love would taste better in our new home. So, I tested the theory. Despite the work that needs to be done and some of the more pocket sized features; despite the boxes and boxes, lack of Internet, and reliance on my memory to recreate a casserole, it did taste better. Perhaps I was hungrier, perhaps the empty camera battery led me to bypass its more runny appearance, but I soaked up every last drop. Satisfied, I sat back in my chair, surveying the progress that we made, looking from the north to the south side of our house, feeling more at home than ever.

We are homeowners and in our house and very happy. And looking forward to our first B and B guest on Sunday night. John, please pardon the boxes. Focus on the food.
